Video Critique

The critique went very well. I was told that there was definitely an improvement since my last fieldwork video. I was told that I was able to create the third meaning well. One of the critiques I got was mainly my title. I am not good at making titles, and I understood why my title was confusing. The other critique was that they wish that there was a happy ending, and I was originally on planning on it, and I wish I added it because then it can show that even though there are bumps in the road with the critique process, the hard work will pay off. That was a good suggestion.

Video Project Reflection

I got some good feedback. I was told that the use of the technology side was really creative and that it was a good idea to use the character creation. The only critiques I received from people was that the first character creation screen was too long, which I can agree with after watching it again, and that some people didn’t understand the people in the mirror, which I can also understand too.

Video Project Process

I’ve mapped out my process. I am going to go ahead with using a character creation screen to show the character writing process and show someone generating a world to show the world building side of writing. I also plan on having typing in the background and have people look in the mirror to convey the whole talking to yourself aspect. This is my first time dealing with any actual video editing so this may or may not work but I will try my best.

Ideas for Video Project

Some of the ideas I was thinking about were:

  • writing a story
  • getting out of bed
  • talking to myself
  • playing video games
  • plucking my eyebrows
  • drinking water

I was planning on just combining the talking to myself action with writing a story. I feel like that would be pretty interesting in how I would go about it, especially since I do end up talking to myself whenever I write. Maybe focus on the technology aspect since I use a computer to write? Include video game footage since character creation is usually paired with story writing?

Critique Notes for the Performance Art Project

Overall my critique was very valuable. I did make a mistake by having the tripod bag in the shot. I didn’t even see it until it was pointed out to me; I should have reviewed my video harder before uploading it. My bad; at least I know to double and triple check next time. I was also told that the movements were interesting. However, I did have one critique that said that my stuff was too repetitive in a bad way and that this person didn’t like it. I can see that it can be repetitive, I definitely can, however I thought I was engaging the space the best I could and when this person said to engage the space more, I will admit I was confused as to how I could have. Maybe I could have used my feet to play patty cake on the walls instead of my hands in certain parts on the video? That could be an idea for next time.

Fieldwork Reflection for Performance Art Piece

I was told that moving around is interesting and how I should engage the space and I plan on doing a lot more of that. I was also told to zoom out so my space could be seen better, which is what I will be doing as well, especially after looking over the fieldwork myself. In both of the fieldworks, I was told that doing the patty cake motion a different way throughout the performance piece was provocative, which I plan on changing up my motions as well and make them more movey (I guess that is the word for it?). Overall, I feel that the feedback on my fieldworks were very helpful in making my final Performance Art piece.

Performance Art Process

I am keeping with my original idea. However, I decided to do the art piece inside of the art building, in the hallway with the offices and where jewelry making is located. I also plan on doing different hand motions while still doing the patty-cake type of motion. I also plan on doing the performance art kneeling. I also plan on including the floor in the performance art.

Idea for the Performance Art Piece

I would like it do the performance art piece around the art building, maybe even in the art building if the weather is not good? I also want to do the patty-cake type of hand motions on a wall. I think it would be interesting because it is usually a two person thing, but instead I’m doing it with a wall. I also plan on not just hanging around in one spot, but move a round with the action. Sit, kneel, etc.

Installation Project Process

My over all process would be to use pipe cleaners with a locker. The locker is small and not in my dorm. I am still going to use pipe cleaners since they are easy to get. I am also going to put different sculpture type figure things made out of pipe cleaners as well as make the whole bottom of the locker out of pipe cleaners. I might stick some of those pipe cleaner sculptures on the side of the locker so they can pop out from multiple sides of the locker. For that, I might use a glue stick so it won’t deface the locker, but still stick.

Ideas for the Installation Art Project

My plan is to deal with an enclosed space. I think it would be neat to see how a small space could be altered. Maybe make it draw attention to itself? I like the idea of making a small space have a big personality. One of the object that I can get in bulk would be pipe cleaners. They aren’t expensive and I can get 1000 of them for 15 dollars. I don’t know how I would go about attaching them to the small space, or what the small space Is, yet, but I will look and see what small spaces I can find that are not in my dorm.
